Sony-DAV-FX900W

Home theater system up for review- Sony DAV-FX900W

The Sony DAV-FX900W is a home theater system that integrates features like a 5 disc changer, 5 speakers, and a rockin subwoofer. Sony DAV-FX900W comes with 2  HDMI inputs to provide useability with the newer digital televisions that work best in the HDMI format. This home theater system is compatible with XM Connect & Play to listen to any station you want without those pesky commercials that we all hate. The Sony DAV-FX900W reviewed offers wireless rear speakers that can be a definate plus for all of you that don’t like the mess that all the wires create.

The DAV-FX900W features Digital Cinema Auto Calibration, you simply place the included microphone where you would normally sit, while Sony’s digital calibrating software takes control of the situation (sit back and relax).

All in all-  The positives- Great features (wireless speakers, and automatic sound calibration)  good sound for the price. The negatives- because you cannot manually adjust the sound levels to each speaker some may find this limiting, and the slot-loading disc changer slows things down a lot.

Price ranges we found- $649- $749

Panasonic SC PT960

Panasonic SC-PT960

System up for review- Panasonic SC-PT 960

The Panasonic SC-PT 960 is Panasonic’s new home theater system on the market.  This system boasts 5.1 surround sound audio, 5 speakers and a subwoofer that pumps out some pretty good bass, wireless rear speakers and a built in iPod docking station.  Some may also enjoy a digital optical audio input (Toslink), a convenient 5-disk CD/DVD changer, multi-format CD/DVD player and lots of options for configuring the system.

All in  all-  The Panasonic SC-PT 960 offers great quality for the price.  The only two negatives- the wireless speakers can be somewhat of a hassle. (perhaps more of a hassle than it is worth)  The upconverter to 1080p creates a little bit of distortion. (the picture sometimes looks better without upconverting)

Price ranges we found-  $399- $545
